The Back Story of Khalla and The World

Centuries ago, long before the first bonded dragon, Heroes and Villains had been waging a war. The battle between good and evil has been a struggle since the dawn of time and knows not the boundaries of race or age. The old, the young, the creatures of all over the world fought one another purely for power. As the years passed, creatures became instruments of destruction, tools by the greater races all over. Not a soul knows who the first one was to bond one of the sacred dragons, or which side it fought for. However, it was merely the beginning of the end. The dragons and their riders proved to be the most superior fighting force the world had ever seen. Soon all of the warriors were seeking out the dragons of lore to bond them for themselves. Each dragon responded to the call differently, some demanding sacrifices, others bonded more willingly to each possible rider, while the others still just simply heeding the call to destruction.

The battlefield quickly became a different place. Where once tens of thousands of soldiers would travel months on land, only to spend years laying siege to castles and cities, a small platoon of Dragon Riders could defeat the Armies of Khalla in a matter of hours. Wars that took decades were now being waged weekly. Kingdoms rose and fell before the draconic knights. Before long the heroes had all fallen and a power struggle between evils took place. The end of all life seemed imminent, no land was safe.

Unbeknownst to the world, the power that the dragons had come with was terrible. Those who bound dragons but were not pure of heart, corrupted the magical beings. No longer could bound dragons hatch eggs. Rather the eggs birthed were born petrified. Wild dragons sensed the ending and did what they could; they vanished within the world itself. Their bodies turned to stone and soon the earth itself seemed to engulf them, hiding them and protecting them from the corruption of the world. As ages passed and battles waged, the population of bonded dragons dwindled to terribly few and with it went the magic coursing through the world. The elder races split themselves apart from the world; retreating to their homelands and saving themselves. Finally the last dragon rider died, and soon after the last of the great dragons. With the loss of Dragons and Magic came peace as the world scarcely knew. Wars receded and the birth of the nations began. Monsters faded from the roads and hillsides.

Ages passed and magic and dragons faded to myth and legend. Children grew hearing tales of the mythical Dragon Riders. Their legacies of heroism, villainy, and destruction, bearing fruit in the form of young adventurers. Exploring the wilds for the treasures of kingdoms past, dragon eggs and relics of magic are still sold in some markets at a high price; their buyers unknowing of the powers that will soon become awakened...

The Past Few Months

It has been nearly two hundred years since the Sacred Star fell to land in Khalla, with over a thousand years having slipped away since the last of the dragons vanished from the corruption. Since then eggs have come back to life, no longer hunks of stone, and they have begun to hatch. It is estimated that about two hundred wild dragons have been spotted in Khalla, ranging from hatchlings to adults.

The Floating Islands of Lamashtu and Apsu have been re-discovered and they are being rebuilt, the Jagged Teeth Mountains are constantly being tunneled to make room for the Vanguard. Much work has gone into making them habitable and comfortable for the inhabitants, yet there is still much work to be done. Javelin Lockewood has wrested control of the Shadar from old Onyx Titamus and has held command for fifty years now. Greybeard, or Grandpa, has continued to guide the Dargona with his kind and charismatic ways; Ronan assists the younger human in his role as teacher to young riders. Lucien leads the Vanguard, having taken command after the passing of his parents Fanna and Angan; trying to balance his decisions to best suit the needs of his people.

Currently all three factions are vying for power and dragons. The Shadar are trying to take all the power, the Dargona are attempting to help dragons and their riders, while the Vanguard is merely trying to survive and stay equal to the other powers in Khalla.

More and more eggs are reviving and hatching. Who will gain power in struggle for Khalla?
